With two ‘hubs’ of service, and over 40 years’ experience between us, we offer a wide range of services to domestic, professional, educational and community settings. This includes piano tuning, maintenance, repairs and general advice.

Our ‘Southern Hub’ covered by founder David Johnson currently covers North Hertfordshire, South Bedfordshire, South Cambridgeshire and North London. Our ‘North West Hub’ covered by Ella from E J Piano Maintenance, takes care of the areas of Wrexham, Flintshire, North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire and Wirral.

About Us

Welcome to Johnson Pianos. We are a Father and Daughter piano technician team coming together to provide a wider professional, friendly and expert service.
David founded Johnson Piano Services Ltd over 30 years ago after qualifying in piano tuning, maintenance and design from the London College of Furniture and has since established a successful tuning business covering a wide area centered on North Hertfordshire.

Ella started her piano tuning and maintenance journey in 2015 apprenticing through Johnson Piano services as well as embarking on training and work experience opportunities across the country. She now works as a freelance piano technician mainly covering Wrexham, Flintshire, North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire, and Wirral.

We have taken the decision to now centralise our online presence and bookings in order to start a gradual transition towards a single entity. While we each retain an individual approach to the exact services we offer, we share and act out the same values in all our work: Passion, Excellence and Care.

Ella Johnson

Having grown up surrounded by music, musicians and pianos and with a strong background in customer service I thoroughly enjoy the process of working with clients to get the best out of their piano whether it be making it play better, sound better or both! I love what the piano can give to people, and being a small part of that is not something to be taken for granted.

David Johnson

The huge range of musical louds and softs, textures and sonorities, available in the piano and made possible through the fine engineering of the natural properties of wood, steel and felt, is what motivates me now, and has  motivated me for over thirty years, to tune pianos for many thousands of satisfied customers

Our Services

Tuning

To get the most out of your piano we recommend having it tuned every 6 months. We offer fine tunings and pitch raises to keep your piano sounding its best.

Maintenance

Sticking keys, unresponsive notes and poor repetition are among the many issues a piano can develop over time. We can help maintain your piano to keep all its workings in order.

Repairs

Due to the variety of materials used in a piano some parts can start to wear or break over time. We offer a repair service for individual parts as well as action restorations on a grander scale.
